The Protagonist is an upcoming band on the Cold Meat Industries Label, at the helm of the project is Magnus Sundstrom. You may be familiar with the Protagonist from the "Absoulute Supper" compilation, or perhaps you may be familair with Magnus Sundstrom for his appearences on Megaptera albums. If you have not you have missed out an amazing artist. A Rebours is both magestic and beautiful, it combines both Dark Ambiance and Neo-classical styles with strategically placed amounts of dissonance. Another highlight to the album is the spoken word segments which bring numerous guest artists. This album contains guest vocals from: Mark ST. John (Eligah's Mantle), Peter Peterson (Arcana), Izzie, and Marten Kellerman. The spoken word segments add a nice break in the musi and written intelligently enough not to come across as cheesy or ridiculously dark. A Rebours will be out soon on Cold Meat Industries and I would not suggest waiting to purchase it, this is the best new release I have heard from that label since Arcana's "Dark Age of Reason". This should please and amaze fans of: Arcana, Koda era In The Nursery, MacBeth era Laibach, Eligah's Mantle, and later period In Slaughter Natives.
