the absolute supper - CMI.50

Heresy Magazine #3

Cold Meat Industry is celebrating it's ten year anniversary, and what better way to do so, than with this magnificent Double CD sampler. Taking off where Karmanik Collection and Even Wolves... left off, The Absolute Supper is comprised of totally unreleased tracks from the Cold Meat empire, as well as some new affliates. Disc one begins with the legendary In Slaughter Natives, and their typical brand of Industry. Their offering, the bombastic Raped by the Cross. The Protagonist, a new act on the CMI roster offer two tracks of ISNesque militance. Commanding, filled with samples, and a mild industrial aura. The Ordo Equilibrio piece is not a highlight for them, while Sanctum deliver a piece similar to the highlights of their Lupus in Fabula album. One of the absolute highlights of this release is Puissance's neo-classical warmarch, Love Incarnate. Play Loud! Blow your brains out! Mortiis is moving in a more folk oriented direction with his contribution, and while Morthound are no more, Hazard lives on in its place. Dark eerie soundscapes. Disc two begins with one of my all time faves, Brighter Death Now, and some hard noise that continues in the vein of the awesome Innerwar LP. Frozen Faces The Deutsch Nepal project offer Zyklon B Doll, and like the Frozen Faces LP its hard, primal industrial. MZ.412 produces a more somber piece, and nacht, formerly of Aghast has returned with a project of the same name, which is similar to Aghast, yet not quite as dark or foggy. Still bearing the elements of despair and hopelessness. Archon Satani bring to the ears of mortals their last work. A Time of Ruin Sees the original duo working together one last time. The Mortiis project Cintecele Diavolui closes proceedings with its obscure, up tempo horror music, and vampire samples. Corny, and enticing at the same time. Reminds me a little of Kraftverk at times. The Devils Songs, the CD release of Cintecele Diavolui is soon out on Cold Meat Industry. Besides being musically excellent, the packaging of the Absolute Supper is one of the best these eyes have seen, and comes with two booklets, and a discography of all CMI activities.

Nordic Vision #11

Really excuisite! "The Absolute Supper" is the absolute supper, coming in a chic package, double cd for the price of a normal cd, great booklet presenting each and every artist that offer their individual talents and music and one extra booklet presenting releases on Cold Meat up till now. A real treat for the fans, and a real musical desert of extra class. Let your ear transport the sounds and wibes from this cd to your mind and experience the well-known sounds of In Slaughter Natives, Mortiis, Ordo Equilibrio and Brighter Death Now among lots of other soundcreators of the hall of Cold Meat Industry.

Another delectible feast served up by CMI, a smattering of all of their childrens new releases on 2 cds. Tracks that really bit me: In Slaughter Natives opens the CD with a really nice peice, 'raped by the cross', good, crushing beat, moaning (monks?) in the background along with a tasty ennunciation by the piano. The next track, The Protagonist - Imitation, is a jet soundtrack with wonderful ravings from a madman interspersed into the Horn/String ensemble. Listening to the compilation I can't help but admire the bands and how they all coexist but diversify at the same time. I have every comp put out by CMI and not once have I been disappointed in the past. This time I am thrilled: shining examples, and so many! 22 songs to make you scream and nifty packaging, Go buy this comp... I tell you-

Grinding into Emptiness
Just when you needed that inspiration of darkness, Cold Meat Industry delivers to help you reinforce feelings of self-hatred and antisociality. This two cd set should be in the hands of all who are truly of the negative persuasion. This collection of previously unreleased material is a healthy dose of Cold Meat Industry's most ominous acts of the last 10 years.

The first disk is fanatastic neo-classical. In Slaughter Natives, The Protagonist, Ordo Equilibrio, and Arcana stand out as stunning soundscapes of dramatic pain. The bleak narration of Puissance' "Love incinerate" captures a scene of the apocalypse, literally. All this is not to say the rest of the cd is filler. Listened to in it's entirety, I find myself in corners of my mind long forgotten.

The second half of "The Absolute Supper" taps in to the power-noise, experimental, and industrial ambience that has made bands like Brighter Death Now and MZ.412 infamous. Some points of the tracks drag on with loops barely overcoming inertia. Extremely stark. Actually towards the end, the Ildfrost tracks ressemble the directions of early Delerium.

This is absolutely worth the time to find and the money to buy, for anyone.
