Proscriptor is of course, the lyricist, vocalist, and drummer of the American genius that is Absu. Proscriptor (the band) is more than a little different to what Absu explore musically. Proscriptor is geared moreso around ancient customs from Scotland, superstitions, and folklore etc. Combined with occult themes, and Proscriptors mystical being, this collection of songs is nothing short of interesting. At times hypnotic, as evidenced in I Am The One with its verbal assault, and chimes, while Our Blood & Veins From the McGovern Regiment is a more militaristic affair, with marching snare drums, bag pipes, and the sinister Proscriptor injecting verbal hallucinations. The diversity of The Venus Bellona is one of its impressive features, and the incorporation of an extensive range of instruments is both appealing as well as contributing to this fact. Acoustics, electronics, ambience... all has been incorporated to make this Volume of 20 Acts the unique piece that it is. Those of you who will admit to it, will remember the closing cut I Ran(So Far Away)... Bizarre.

A very,very unusual project is this. The music is what we would say is sincerely odd. Unorthodox and avantgardish, and not so nice to us who write reviews since it is so very difficult to give you a good description of it!!! The main guy behind this is known from Absu, but we can assure you this is definitely something extremely different... not metal at all.
