The remaining material for the third part of Brighter Death Now's Great Death trilogy was recently released, only half a year late. The disc itself was released on the 23rd of November, 1995, and is only obtainable to those who bought the first two parts, the double CD boxed set, by using the form that comes with the box. To clear a few potential misunderstandings up; you will receive this extra material if you own the third part of the trilogy, just wait. If you haven't sent in your ordering form yet, for this third part, it isn't too late, just send it in and you'll receive everything you need. This is what the newly released material contains:

A form in which you are supposed to give your five favourite tracks from the three albums, and then return it to CMI. Roger may be planning to at some point release a Greatest Death compilation on which the track list will be based upon what people vote for.

A new order form. Yes, believe it or not, but there will be a new BDN release, only eligible for those who have, or will, acquire Great Death III. This will be a 7" picture disc called Nordanvinterdöd (Northern Winter Death). It is supposed to be released on June 23.

The new mail order catalogue, see note for april 17th, below.

There's a newly constructed page for you to visit, Vampiir of MZ.412 has started making a page for his band at http://www.tripod.com/~vampiir/.

Some time has passed since the last briefing, but here are finally some things for me to report. Recently, the new mailorder catalogue for Cold Meat Industry and Secula Dalenda was released and it has this to say on what will be going on in the near future. I'm quoting freely, selected bits:

Due to several incidents in the Karmanik Family the newsletter will not be ready until may or so. The announced double 7" picture disc set The Hearts of Shadow Gods has been released and quickly sold out, only a few copies remain for our mailorder. There is more or less a hysteria around the new band Arcana - their first track was featured on the ...and even wolves compilation CD, and they are also appearing on the double single set. Finally we received the master tape for the upcoming album by this band, a truly amazing act, and an interview will be found in the next newsletter. Speaking of amazing bands we shouldn't forget Puissance and their coming album Let us lead - it will certainly lead you into the holocaust of 1996. The second CD by Ordo Equilibrio is to be released this spring, another great release. Further releases knocking on your door are the albums by Sanctum - Lupus Infabula, and Mental Destruction.

Please also note that the rumours of Cold Meat Industry turning into a black metal label are just rumours, we have never released any black metal and have neither any intention of doing so. We've been around for longer than that! So have faith in us. More about Cold Meat and the raise of an empire in the upcoming issue of our newsletter.

So far the official Cold Meat news, now for a letter I received just yesterday, from BJ Nilsen, frontman of Morthound. An official statement:

Five years ago I created Morthond. Through all the years I have released 3 Cd's, 1 cassette + ? compilations . Almost all of this material has been released by Roger of CMI. For this I am forever grateful, it has been a joyful and inspiring time. But I now feel that both I, and maby also The Cold Meat Industry have changed, not in a bad way but anyway. Morthound was a creature who4s acting was unexpectable, perhaps too much sometimes. Which was the bleeding purpose. I also feel that because Morthound always have been a CMI band I see no reason to go on with this project on another label. Maybe some old material is going to be released but not any new. I want to thank everyone who took time to buy the records or even just listened, those who bothered to arrange concerts and festivals + those who payed and stayed.

Thank you: Karmanik family (I'm still gonna bomb you with DAT tapes...). Jouni, Lina, Samuel, Rikard, Mårten, Andreas.

CMI junkies worldwide-Be all ears !
    MORTHOUND DOES NO LONGER EXIST!!

More stuff tomorrow hopefully, on the additional Great Death III material, and the festival in Erlangen this summer...

The Heart of Shadow Gods, the double 7" 33 rpm picture disc sampler containing two tracks from each of; Puissance, Penitent, Arcana and Aphrael has been released. It is musically great and both sleeve and discs are of common high Cold Meat quality. Limited edition of 500 copies, and they're almost out.

The long awaited remaining material for Great Death III will be delivered shortly. Rumours has it that there will be an epilogue to the Great Death trilogy, and there will be an ordering form among the papers you'll recieve.

There will be a revised price-list out soon.

No date has yet been set for the Cold Meat festival in Erlangen this summer. It is not yet certain that the days mentioned in the newslettter will be the actual festival...

The Cold Meat trading cards were released early january, there's twenty different ones, sold in packages of ten assorted cards. I reckon people will want to obtain cards you miss, so why not send me mails with requests and i'll put up a separate page for trades.

The recent MZ.412 disc is availible in the regular edition, and also in a special edition for fanatic collectors; an all-black jewel case with the MZ logotype printed on the front.

The Cruel Moon bands are presently in the recording stages, no dates are set for releases. The next planned release will be Ordo Equilibrio. No other news apart from a possible concert in Borås in may, featuring Ordo Equilibrio, Mental Destruction and Mortiis. Perhaps also with the appearance of anenzephalia, one of the few remaining noise-bands of the old school, I'm told.

Also, lastly, I made a page called latest updates, where you'll be able to find out if there's been any revisions to the page since your last visit. You'll find it from the index page.

I promised you a report on upcoming releases, I'll get back to that at a later date, but let me report on what has actually been released of late.

Mortiis's second CMI release Keiser av en dimension ukjent, CMI.37, is availible. I don't have a copy of it yet, but know that Mortiis fans won't be disappointed with this one.

Raison d'être recently released their third CD on Cold Meat Industry. Including the many sideprojects raison d'être is proving to be one of the most productive acts on the label, but that doesn't mean the quality is declining. On the contrary - his third album, with the somewhat curious name; Within the depths of silence and phormations, CMI.38, is one of his best, very impressive in the wellknown raison fashion.

I just got my hands on Penitent's debut album Melancholia, CMI.39, and was majorly impressed with what this new norwegian duo has accomplished. Dirge-like synthesizer organ tunes with some piano and percussion, brilliant hymns, with spoken norwegian and english poetry. The flyers say "A masterpiece!", and I'm ready to sign that statement, cannot recommend it enough.

Go to the label discography for short descriptions and, soon (our scanner is malfunctioning) scans o of the sleeves.

Okay, welcome to a new Cold Meat Industry year, 1996. If it will be at least as entertaining as 1995, we have a lot to look forward to. As ususal, the keeper of this page is a full time student so updates may be irregular, but I do try to keep at least this news page and the comments page fairly up to date. Information, contributions and input from you are highly appreciated. Some news, as it were:

I'll try to find out exactly what releases are in the works, but to be expected any day soon would be the Sanctum debut album, called Lupus In Fabula. Sounds very interesting to judge from a recent radio appearance in Swedish Radio, combining a range of different genres, some goth, some EBM, some Krupps-like cybertrash, even some trip-hop.

Projekt:darkwave seem to have moved their headquarters, including Sam Rosenthal himself, from San Fransisco to Chicago. So, you americans who order your Cold Meat products through projekt, make a note of their new adress in the In Brief section.

Two items, straight off the Cold Meat Mailinglist (you'll find details on how to join this mailinglist in the In Brief section of the page), tells us about an upcoming project by Lina of Deutsch Nepal, to be called Frozen Faces, and of a newly released Raison d'être sideproject called Necrophorus, on Cat's Heaven / VUZ Records. The articles follows:

While this would describe the current climatic situation here on the Eastern US Coast, I'm actually talking about the new Deutsch Nepal side project mentioned in the Cold Meat newsletter.
Line dropped me a fax this past week that said "As most of the equipment in our studio broke...I still could not let this fact stop me from making music. I took what was still working and found new sounds and new ways of doing it...easy sequences with noisy sounds and harsh soundscapes...it did not really sound like Deutsch Nepal so I started a new project called Frozen Faces".
Sounds intriguing ...will drop him another fax this week to find out about when it may be released. Knowing Lina though, I probably won't get a response for about 6 months ...will post details here when they become available.

Subject: Raison D'Etre sideproject: Necrophorus

CAT'S HEAVEN just released the first CD by NECROPHORUS. Here are some infos about it.

The second CAT'S HEAVEN CD is the debut release of Peter Andersson's (Raison D'Etre) new project Necrophorus. It consists of two seperate parts:
The Spirit Of Tranquility and The Impressions Of Salvador Dali. Both parts can be seen as conceptual recordings, offering beautiful ambient soundscapes, creating soundtracks for movies of the mind. Fawning melodies and smooth harmonies take you to a land of fairy-tales and elves. Open your mind and let your mind flow with the stream of sounds.

This is what Ares of the Eskhatos Magazine, USA wrote about NECROPHORUS - Underneath the Spirit of Tranquility
After several cassettes and two very successful CDS as Raison D'Etre, Peter Andersson branched out with Atomine Elektrine and now this new project.
Necrophorus is more internal and perhaps more sophisticated than his other works. There are less chants though they are still present though more ephemeral. There is more of an emphasis on working with sound rather than setting a mood. This sounds like a more minimalistic version of both Atomine Elektrine and Raison D'Etre. Concentrated, more conceptual and soundscape oriented, Necrophorus seems to be a canvas playground for Andersson's more personal material. The CD is comprised of two separate conceptual ideas called The Spirit Of Tranquility, the songs relating to this are more ritualistic, and The Impressions Of Salvador Dali with songs which are more surrealistic and involve more complex layering and production. Overall, this is still Andersson, but if you're looking for Raison D'Etre or Atomine Elektrine repackaged, you're in for a surprise. This is much more thought evoking and emotional.
