the long awaited releases is finally out. noise.il , nine exclusive tracks by the new generation of israel's power electronics brigades (including a new track by BARZEL. their first since their 2004 debut).

the birth of noise.il was at the tel aviv noise fest (July 1 2005) when the four acts played live & loud in a tel aviv basement. these new acts had excited me and I just knew that this is a night that has to be remembered if not documented. it took almost a year to select and record the tracks that ended up on this document.

the final touch was given by Igor Krutogolov (that is going to release a solo album on topheth prophet this year) who mastered it and designed the artwork had made it perfect ! it is the best example of Israeli power electronics & noise released up to date.

The artists:
MortalManifest - Oren Ben Yosef has been an active musician for a few years now. his group , seven morgues , just released their debut album 'something to cry about' and received great reviews. MortalManifest started its way as an industrial act and evolved into the being that it is today. Focusing all intentions on art noise and video projects MortalManifest's aim is the to briefly reach the sublime instead of wallowing in the ugly swamp of the post modernism. http://www.myspace.com/mortalmanifest

Drone Lebanon - One of the most mysterious and respected projects in Israel today. his live shows are rare and short and his recorded music is even harder to find (until now He only released one track in hatband comp HTW four years ago). submit yourself to the power of Drone Lebanon. it cannot be any better than that !!!

Gaop vs. Aboolele - gaop is noise. gaop is an entity. gaop is drone. gaop is all kinds of ambient. gaop is the epitome of post industrial music. gaop breaks beats. gaop is multi instrumental. gaop is forever evolving. gaop is everywhere. gaop is in anything. gaop is a person on a stage. gaop is a state of mind. gaop lives in the shadows. gaop is jazz but he is not jazz. gaop is gaop. aboolele is a self proclaimed "bedroom artist". at work since he was able to move, ZS (AkA Aboolele) is a mighty force. after spinning decks 4 many years, working in record stores and recording experimental mental music, he joined forces with his friend and sometimes collaborator, gaop, and together they began to paly shows and search 4 fame and glory. aboolele mingles in the art of noise, idm, dark ambient, post industrial, post surf punk, and avantgarde. together they are the obstinate twins.

Wreck & Drool , Gedem - W&D (and their side project Gedem) knows how to create the most brutal sound collages ever. all their works are created by analog sound sources. no computers ! just feedbacks! their most acclaimed releases are already sold out but some tracks are available on myspace.com. attached is a photo of gedem in action.

Barzel - needs no further introduction. "Industrial Strength Zionism" is his new slogan and you can expect brutal PE in the vain of his successful debut 'a shield of defense and the word of the son of blood' from 2004. Barzel's new album will be released by topheth prophet sometime next year.

review from auralpressure:
Topheth Prophet aren’t the most prolific of record labels. This is only the 7th release since the labels inception in 2002. Quality not quantity seems to be their mantra. You only have to check out their back catalogue to see what I’m getting at. Releases by Chaos as Shelter, Grundik & Slava, Barzel (who appears here) and Der Blutharsch sums up their ethic to a tee. Everyone one of those releases pretty much essential listening deserving a place in your record collection. Well you can add "Noise.IL" to that illustrious list.

" Noise.IL’ features the following artists: Mortalmanifest, Drone Lebanon, Gedem, GAOP Vs Aboolele, Wreck & Drool and Barzel all of whom inhibit the noise spectrum of music. Some of these acts you may recall from previous AP reviews (GAOP Vs Aboolele and Barzel) whilst the others mark their debut on this site. But fear not… for not everything here will have you reaching for the glass of water and Hedex. Although you may like to keep them close at hand… just in case. It all depends on your own pain threshold. The music features the usual high frequencies and thundering blasts of electronic punishment with some unusual samples thrown in for good measure. Which actually makes it sound rather run of the mill. And which…if truth be told…it occasionally falls into. This cannot really be helped as there’s only so much you can achieve when you venture into creating music of the power / extreme electronic variety. Here’s some noise. Here’s some samples. Here’s one I baked earlier. Listen closely though and you’ll actually find some neat touches throughout the release. Very neat touches that separates this release from the usual V/A fair that gets released. Even though I’ve struggled previously with some the music by GAOP Vs Aboolele, their tracks contributed here put them in a new light. Mortalmanifest were a revelation. Absolutely adored their first track. Drone Lebanon impressed. Wreck & Drool had me doing just that. Gedem…. come on down. Barzel was… well typical Barzel in many respects… and for that I’m very thankful.

The question, I suppose if there has to be one, is: Why should I buy this when there’s so many other compilations out there like it? Three answers. First: "Noise.IL" is on the Topheth Prophet record label. Which is reason enough. Remember… this is the label that brought you the "Tel-Aviv Aftermath" compilation. Once heard, never forgotten. Secondly: The acts involved are diverse enough in style and approach to make this stand out. Lastly: Because I recommend it. "Noise.IL" puts Israeli noise music firmly in the spotlight. Shine on you crazy diamonds.
