SAW II: This film is definitely not made for the faint-hearted. The feeling it creates is so intense that you simply can't forget it. Maybe that's why SAW II has managed to attract millions of people worldwide and remained on position 1 in the international cinema charts for weeks.
Since CLINT MANSELL's score to ”Requiem For A Dream“ there has not been a more accurate, more intensive and gloomier score than this. After two beats of "Titles/Mirror" and you're right back in the world of the movie. Responsible for this is no person other than the NINE INCH NAILS founding member and sound puzzler CHARLIE CLOUSER who is considered as an outstanding talent among young Hollywood composers. There are only few people who have such a metaphorical effect on the audience just by means of their scores. CHARLIE CLOUSER manages to send shivers down your spines without even knowing the movie and one can truthfully say that with the score to ”SAW II“ he has created a masterpiece which can't be surpassed in intensity.
The score is divided into two totally different parts. On the one hand there is a soundscape full of dark buzzes and heavy breathing representing the world of the killer JIGSAW: a rhythmic “non-silence” and a silent restlessness at the same time. On the other hand there is the strong and dramatic sound empire of the morbid: acoustic impressions of insanity, decay and death. The true nature of music has rarely proved more authentic than in the works of this exceptional artist. Visionary cinema par excellence!
